Since its establishment, Nobelsfontein has dedicated a portion of its revenue to community investment programs designed to build lasting social and economic impact. Community Impact: Boosting Literacy in Victoria West

Noblesfontein Wind Farm recognises that education extends beyond the classroom. Through the Aftercare Program, interns are placed at local schools to provide structured support for learners.

The program strengthens literacy and numeracy by assisting learners with reading, homework, and study preparation. This additional academic support helps learners improve their performance and build confidence in their studies.

At the same time, the program creates opportunities for interns to gain meaningful workplace experience. By contributing to education and community development, participants enhance their skills while preparing for future career growth

5 Year NEMA Environmental Audit Report

Terramanzi Group (Pty) Ltd (“TMG”), as the independent reviewer, was requested by Coria (PKF) Investments 28 (Pty) Ltd (hereinafter referred to as the “Client” or “Coria”) to undertake a 5-year NEMA Environmental compliance audit in accordance with Regulation 34 and Appendix 7 of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), Act 107 of 1998 and the NEMA Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations, 2014 (as amended), of the Noblesfontein Wind Farm (“the Project”) located in the Beaufort West and Ubuntu Local Municipalities of the Northern and Western Cape Provinces of South Africa.

This 5-year NEMA Environmental Audit Report details Coria’s compliance with the applicable conditions of the environmental authorisation12 and objectives of the respective Environmental Management Programmes (EMPr’s) 345of the project and provides basic guidance with respect to maintaining compliance.

The Scope of Works for this Audit Report includes:

  • An update on environmental compliance for the respective reporting period;
  • Progress in relation to, and compliance with, the applicable authorisations and EMPrs;
  • Any rectification actions associated with non or partial compliances with the authorisations and
    EMPrs.

Enterprise Development

Start-up enterprise training is provided to aspiring entrepreneurs drawn from the local Victoria West community. Training and coaching are currently being conducted for beneficiary start-up companies as well as participants of Starter Pack Pro.

The following concepts, key themes, classroom activities and practical assignments were facilitated through the Starter Pack Enterprise Training Theory Learning Course:

  • Formulation of strategic business documents with both vision and mission strategies.
  • Formulation of a marketing strategies per business.
  • Both entities underwent and completed their CIPC registrations, BEE Certificates and opened their business bank accounts.
  • Drawing up of company organograms.
  • Risks associated with SMME’s.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Report writing.

To date, start-up businesses entities have made vast strides in establishing their businesses and are ready to begin operating and providing services as business owners from the onset of February 2019.

Start-up businesses which successfully complete the training and who are selected as grant beneficiaries stand to get start-up assistance towards key resources based on initial needs.

The content these beneficiaries receive during training  cover the following themes:

  • Gathering and managing information for decision making
  • Using language and communication strategies for vocational and occupation learning
  • Developing a business plan for a small business
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating a marketing strategy for a new venture
  • Tendering to secure business for a new venture
  • Managing finances in a small business
  • Drafting an employment contract
  • Applying innovative thinking to the development of a small business

Training for these enterprises commenced in February 2021.

Make A Difference Leadership Foundation (MAD) Bursary

The MAD Bursary targets exceptionally performing students in assisting them to complete their tertiary studies and develop careers. The MAD Bursary is still continuing and students are performing very well. All bursary candidates will receive interventions as per the normal operation of the programme. These are;

  • 3 Leadership Forums and 1 Leadership Summit built on MAD Leadership
  • Foundation values.
  • Regular check-ins from coordinator
  • Contact sessions with coordinator
  • Subject-specific tutoring to improve performance where necessary

Education Intervention

At the beginning of the implementation of SE.ED Programmes, the first evaluations of the education output from local schools was assessed for any improvements. During these assessments, Infundo, the company contracted to assist with educational initiatives, was able to secure a meeting with the Northern Cape’s Education District Manager who communicated his cooperation and support of the education support intervention.

The NWF Economic Development Plan Pamphlet

NWF is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) which has a license to generate electricity and sell it to the national grid (ESKOM). This license has an obligation to the IPP, to implement an Economic Development Plan that is based on Socio-economic and Enterprise Development Programmes. We also refer to these as SE.ED Programmes. The condition for NWF is to encourage development in local communities within a 50 km radius of the wind farm. According to the IPP Office, an important focus of the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) is to ensure that the development programme secures sustainable value for the country and enables local communities to benefit directly from the investments attracted into the area.

ID Intervention Programme Pamphlet

The Identity Document (ID) Programme was implemented from January 2019 in Victoria West to address the need of undocumented members of the community. It is an initiative that transports beneficiaries to Home Affairs and also further assists those without birth certificates with the application process. The beneficiaries include individuals such as matriculants and other people without birth certificates and or identity documents. If you are 16 years and older, you may apply for an identity document (ID). You will need an ID to register for your matric exams, obtain a driving license or open a bank account.

The following document is an information pack with important guidelines, advice and additional information to help you and your community avoid COVID-19 and keep safe and healthy. The coronavirus, known as COVID-19, is respiratory illness similar to the flu (cough, fever, fatigue and aching body/muscles). More commonly than the flu, it can become severe, causing viral pneumonia (difficulty breathing). 4 out of 5 people will have  mild symptoms and recover without treatment. The elderly and those with underlying health conditions have an increased risk of severe illness. Cases in children are rare.

Local COVID-19 Interventions

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2). The disease was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, the capital of China’s Hubei province and has since spread globally, resulting in the ongoing 2019–20 Coronavirus pandemic. As of 25 August 2020, more than 23 million cases have been reported in more than 200 countries and territories, resulting in more than 800,000 deaths.

In response to the outbreak of the pandemic, Noblesfontein Wind Farm together with Knowledge Pele decided to launch certain relief interventions to combat the economic impact resulting from the virus on vulnerable community members of Victoria West and Hutchinson.
